The Lynnfield School Committee Recall Petition will send a clear message to our School Committee & Superintendent
Our Mission
What Drives Us
The Lynnfield School Committee Recall Petition is dedicated to gathering 2,000 signatures to create awareness and drive a recall election. Our targeted efforts focus on the removal of ONE member of the Lynnfield School Committee whose egregious actions must be held accountable. Hundreds of residents have asked for the resignation of Kate DePrizio, but she has refused and taken NO accountability for her actions.
As of October 4, 2024, the remaining School Committee Members and the Superintendent have been complicit in her actions, having issued no statement for or against her actions as a School Committee Member.
Information / Background
September 11th SC Meeting
At the 9/11 School Committee Meeting, Kate DePrizio reads aloud a letter supposedly drafted by the School Committee Attorney, calling into question the ethics of another school committee member AND his children. All of this is clearly against School Committee (SC) protocols, but former Chair DePrizio and the remaining SC members allowed a character assasination on live TV. This letter never should have been read in a public meeting. To make matters worse, the allegations to this point have been unsubstantiated. The other SC members and the Superintendent went along with this horrific statement, without questioning the validity of the claims or the appropriateness of a letter like this being read during an open meeting. When long-time SC member Jamie Hayman tried to defend himself and his daughters, who are minors, DePrizio accused Mr. Hayman of threatening her safety and the safety of her children on a phone call prior to the meeting. The Lynnfield Police Department reviewed Mr. Hayman's recording of his side of the conversation, and issued a report that stated none of Mrs. DePrizio's claims were factual. (See Police Report)

LPD Police Report
Following the September 11th SC Meeting, a complaint was filed with the LPD by Kate DePrizio stating that Mr. Hayman threatened she and her family and called her a vulgar name. Unfortunately for Mrs. DePrizio, Mr. Hayman recorded his side of the conversation due to his mistrust in Mrs. DePrizio. The Police reports states, that they DID not hear Mr. Hayman say any of the things he was accused of saying. So an elected official intentionally and falsely accused another of criminal misconduct in public at a live committee meeting, but was caught lying! CLICK ON IMAGE ABOVE FOR POLICE REPORT. The report states:
Police Chief Nick Secatore conducted an investigation that included listening to an audio recording of Mr. Hayman’s side of the conversation:
“I listened to the recording he provided, which is nine minutes and 42 seconds,” the report states. “Throughout the conversation, Jamie states that if his integrity is called into question that he will vigorously defend himself, states he will retain counsel and take legal action against the committee if necessary, take legal action for (libel) and action against Kate personally. I did not hear threats that are of a criminal nature, or Jamie mention her family. Jamie does not call her a (expletive) or mention safety. This report has been deemed a civil issue and is closed.”
September 24th SC Meeting
At the September 24th School Committee meeting, concerned parents and supporters of the Hayman Family stood up to the School Committee, Superintendent Geary and most importantly, former Chair, Kate DePrizio. The most prominent speaker was seventeen year-old Ella Hayman, who defended her and her younger sister's accomplishments against the despicable statement read by DePrizio. The community had hoped that Mrs. Deprizio would have resigned her seat on the School Committee and taken accountability for her actions. However, Kate DePrizio and Superintendent Geary were the only adults at the table who DID NOT apologize to Miss Hayman. Miss Hayman's courage to stand up to the School Committee for their complicit attack on her father and their family was what one parent called, "a fire-able offense."
Statements given during public comment can be viewed during the first hour of the meeting video.
Request for SC Attorney Statement
As the Lynnfield community comes together to voice their concerns about how School Committee matters have been handled as of late, recall proceedings are gaining momentum to remove Kate DePrizio from her seat.
