Request for School Committee Attorney Statement
Important Background Information
As the Lynnfield community comes together to voice their concerns about how School Committee matters have been handled as of late, recall proceedings are gaining momentum to remove Kate DePrizio from her seat.
Many in the community have asked for DePrizio's resignation, but she has refused to step down, taking zero accountability for her actions. Instead, DePrizio is now gaslighting the community and blaming the School Committee Attorney, who was hired into this district with a solid reputation and an impeccable record.
What is also EXTREMELY concerning is the fact that with so many mentions of the School Committee Attorney, neither School Committee Chair, Kristen Elworthy, nor Superintendent Geary, have agreed to invite Attorney Brunt to speak or even attend a public meeting. As of October 4, 2024, Elworthy has stated that she will not have Attorney Brunt attend or comment on this matter even though DePrizio has called on the Committee to fire her.
Why would the new Chair of our School Committee not think it's relevant to have the School Committee Attorney be present to comment on this controversy? This leaves a perception of a coverup and an obvious attempt to sweep the events under the rug. Mrs. DePrizio is trying to fire the lead witness... so why not have Attorney Brunt present her side of the story to provide clarity on the situation. That would provide some "TRANSPARENCY" this community would certainly appreciate.
For all of you who have watched the two most recent meetings and asked yourself, "Where was the attorney?" please demand that School Committee Chair and Superintendent Geary request the presence of the School Committee Attorney at the next public meeting on October 16th.
